Training & Development
Focussed compliance and skills training, and leadership development.
How it works.
HR training
Focussed compliance and skills training, built around what your people actually need to know. A supervisor who understands how to run a disciplinary conversation correctly prevents more problems than any policy document.
Leadership development
Leadership training tailored to your growth and success plan. Most operational problems are management problems wearing a different hat, and they are cheaper to fix through the people already leading your teams.
A mid management leadership course
The layer between the floor and the boardroom carries the most pressure and usually receives the least development. Get in touch about our mid management course.
Training you are already paying for
If your annual payroll exceeds R500 000 you are paying the Skills Development Levy at one percent of payroll every month. Submitting a Workplace Skills Plan and Annual Training Report lets you claim a mandatory grant back, and it is a prerequisite for scoring on the skills development element of your B-BBEE scorecard.
Programmes
Training is only useful if it changes what happens on Monday morning. Everything below is built around a decision someone actually has to make in your operation.
Disciplinary and grievance handling
Supervisors and line managers · One day
How to run the conversation, what to record and when to escalate. Supervisors handle the interactions that become disputes, and they are usually the least trained people in the business for exactly that work.
Basic conditions of employment
Line managers and administrators · Half day
Hours, leave, overtime, deductions and record keeping. The rules people are expected to apply daily, without the legislation reading like legislation.
Performance management conversations
Anyone who manages people · One day
Setting expectations, giving feedback that lands, and documenting performance so that a later process is defensible rather than improvised.
Health and safety responsibilities
Supervisors and safety representatives · Half day
What the law expects of the people on the floor, and what to do in the hour after an incident.
Mid management leadership development
The layer between the floor and the boardroom · Multi session, tailored
The layer carrying the most pressure and receiving the least development. Tailored to your growth and success plan rather than delivered off a shelf. Get in touch for the current outline.

Training & Development, answered
What is the Skills Development Levy and do we pay it?
If your annual payroll exceeds R500 000 you pay SDL at one percent of total payroll, collected monthly by SARS and passed to your SETA. Most employers pay it without ever claiming anything back.
What are the WSP and ATR?
The Workplace Skills Plan is a forward looking plan of the training you intend to deliver. The Annual Training Report records what you actually delivered. Both go to your SETA before the annual deadline, which is 30 April for most SETAs. Submitting them lets you claim the mandatory grant back and is a prerequisite for skills development points on your B-BBEE scorecard.
What happens if we miss the deadline?
You forfeit the mandatory grant for that year and it moves into the SETA discretionary pool. You also lose the skills development points on your B-BBEE scorecard, because proof of submission is a prerequisite for scoring under that element.
Is the training accredited?
It depends on the programme. Accreditation matters for some purposes and is irrelevant for others, and we will tell you plainly which applies to what you are asking for rather than implying more than is true.
Can you train our supervisors rather than our managers?
That is usually where it has the most effect. Supervisors handle the conversations that become disputes, and they are typically the least trained people in the business for exactly that work.
